One Standard

Each program is built around a distinct developmental stage. Select a program below to explore the full details — schedule, pricing, and what to expect.

Developmental Program

Building
the Foundation

Ages 5–10 Typical
Grades K–5
No Prior Competitive Experience Required

The Developmental Program is the ideal entry point for young swimmers who are ready to take their first steps into competitive swimming. This program is designed for athletes who can swim independently but have little to no experience on a structured club team. Coaches focus on building comfort in the water, teaching all four competitive strokes correctly, and introducing basic race formats and meet experience in a low-pressure, supportive environment.

Training at this level emphasizes technique above everything else. We believe that the most important investment any young swimmer can make is learning to move correctly through the water from the very beginning — habits formed early have a lasting impact. Developmental athletes train three times per week, with each session featuring 60 minutes of water time. Two of those practices also include a 30-minute dryland session held on-site at the pool, so athletes are building strength and body awareness alongside their in-water skills from day one.

As part of our commitment to advanced technique development, Developmental athletes benefit from our partnership with the Machine Performance Center — giving even our youngest swimmers access to tools and expertise that go beyond what most club programs offer at this level. That same standard carries through every program we run — because we believe every swimmer, at every level, deserves elite-level attention to the details." Totally optional, just worth considering.

Beyond the water, this program introduces athletes and families to the culture of competitive swimming — what meets look like, how to prepare, how to warm up, and how to carry themselves on the pool deck. We want every swimmer who moves through this program to love the sport and understand what it means to be part of a team. The Developmental Program is also designed with the next step in mind — athletes here are building exactly the foundation that sets them up for success in our Age Group Program when the time is right.

Swimming Fundamentals

All four competitive strokes, plus the foundational skills — starts, turns, kick, and body position — that competitive swimming is built on. Taught with precision and patience, because the habits formed here follow a swimmer for their entire career.

Team Culture

We introduce athletes to what it means to be part of a team — showing up, supporting teammates, and competing with integrity.

Meet Readiness

Swim meets are meant to be fun milestones, not sources of pressure. We make sure athletes know exactly what to expect so they step onto the pool deck feeling ready, confident, and excited to compete.

Age Group Program

Building
Competitive
Athletes

Ages 9–13 Typical
Grades 4–8
Prior Club Experience Preferred

The Age Group Program is designed for swimmers who have mastered the basics and are ready to train with more intensity, purpose, and structure. Athletes at this level are developing the physical and mental tools that will define their competitive trajectory — and this program provides the environment, coaching, and volume to do that well.

Training at the age group level focuses on building aerobic capacity, refining technical efficiency, and introducing race strategy. Swimmers will have access to up to 6 in-water training sessions per week, with sessions ranging from 60 to 90 minutes. They will increase their yardage, expand their event repertoire, and begin competing in higher-level USA Swimming sanctioned meets. Coaches work closely with athletes to understand their individual growth patterns and tailor programming accordingly.

In addition to the pool, Age Group athletes train twice per week at Next Level Training — 60-minute on-site dryland sessions built to develop the strength, athleticism, and physical foundation that directly translates to faster swimming. Athletes also continue to benefit from our partnership with Machine Performance Center, where elite-level technique development remains a priority at every stage of their progression — the same standard introduced in our Developmental Program, carried forward with greater depth and intention.

This is where swimmers begin to develop a real competitive identity. We ask a lot of our age groupers — and we give a lot back. Athletes in this program are expected to be present, coachable, and committed to improvement. In return, they will receive elite technical instruction, structured periodized training, and a coaching staff that genuinely invests in their progress.

Structured Progression

Periodized training built around the competitive calendar — peaking at the right moments and recovering intelligently.

Race IQ

Athletes learn how to race — splits, strategy, turns, underwater work. Being fast is about more than fitness.

Athletic Development

Intentional dryland work builds strength, mobility, and injury resilience alongside in-water training volume.

Senior Program

Competing at
the Highest Level

Ages 14+ Typical
Grades 9–12
Placement by Evaluation

The Senior Program is NVAC's premier high-performance training group. Designed for experienced, dedicated swimmers who are ready to compete at the regional, zone, and national level, this program represents the highest tier of competitive swimming within the club. Athletes in this group train with serious intent, structured volume, and a relentless focus on performance — and they set the tone for everything we're building at NVAC.

Senior athletes train up to 6 times per week in the water, with sessions ranging from 90 to 150 minutes — the volume and intensity required to compete at the highest levels of USA Swimming. Alongside in-water training, athletes participate in two 60-minute dryland sessions per week at Next Level Training, where strength, power, and athletic durability are developed with the same intentionality as their pool work. Senior athletes also continue to benefit from our partnership with Machine Performance Center, where elite-level technique refinement remains a constant priority — because at this level, the details are everything.

Training is individualized within a team structure, meaning each athlete has a clear understanding of their own development targets, race strategy, and season goals. Our coaching staff brings direct experience developing swimmers to the USA Swimming Sectional, ISCA, NCSA and Futures level — and beyond. Coaches, athletes, and families work together to build the plan that gets results.

For athletes with collegiate aspirations, NVAC's Senior Program is built to support that path. Our coaches have a proven track record of developing swimmers who go on to compete at the Division I, II, and III collegiate level — earning scholarships, conference titles, and spots on conference record boards. We understand the recruiting process and actively support our athletes through it.

But the Senior Program is about more than personal performance. These are the athletes that younger swimmers look up to — on the pool deck, in the water, and in how they carry themselves as competitors and teammates. We expect our senior athletes to lead by example, and we build a culture where that expectation is embraced, not just accepted. The tone they set shapes the entire team.
